Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP from Siwan Md Shahabuddin today (Apr 20, 2005) appeared before a fast track court in Jamshedpur in connection with an 18-year-old triple murder case amidst tight security.
Shahabuddin, an accused in the case, has already procured bail in the case from the Patna High Court in 1997.
The controversial MP appeared before Justice N N Singh after summons were issued to him and was brought under strict security.
The court fixed May 12 as the next date of hearing but said, Shahabuddin need not be personally present.
Another accused in the case Rama Singh, MLA from Mahnar (Bihar), did not turn up, as he is in Hajipur jail in connection with another case.
Apart from Shahabuddin and Singh, gangsters Saheb Singh, Virendra Singh, Dasrath Singh, Kallu Singh and others are accused in the murder case in which rival gangster Anand Rao, Janardhan Choubey and youth Congress district president Pradip Mishra were gunned down in Februay 1987 near Jugsalai in the steel city.
Saheb, Dasrath and Virendra Singh were killed a few years ago.
