The Union Cabinet yesterday (Apr 20, 2005) gave its ex-post facto approval for ratification of the signing of two agreements between India and Russia for cooperation in the exploration in outer space and global navigation satellite system.
The two agreements contain general principles of cooperation in exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purpose and joint development and utilisation of Russian Global Navigation Satellite System, Information and Broadcasting Minister S Jaipal Reddy told reporters after the Cabinet meeting in New Delhi.
The agreement for cooperation in the field of joint development, operation and utilisation of the Russian Navigation Satellite System would benefit India through joint realisation of onboard equipment for satellites for geo-stationary orbit, establishment of ground infrastructure and development of combined receiver operating on signals from the global navigation satellite system.
