Srinagar: Security forces shot dead nine militants in two encounters in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir, a Defence spokesman said in Srinagar today (Apr 22, 2005).

Five militants were killed in a gun battle with security forces at Baki Hakar in Handwara area of Kupwara district early this morning.

Four militants were killed in an encounter with security forces late last night (Apr 21, 2005) at Teki Rampur in Baramulla district, the spokesman said.
