There was no stoning against Laloo: Police Chief
Friday, April 22 2005 09:30 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Vadodara: Vadodara Police Commissioner Deepak Swarup last night (Apr 21, 2005) said that there had been no stoning incident when Railway Minister Laloo Prasad visited the local hospital where injured passengers of Sabarmati Express, which collided with a goods train, were being treated.

"No stoning incident took place," Swarup said adding in spite of that he had registered an FIR after Laloo complained about the incident.

He said a patient admitted in the SSG Hospital had inadvertently thrown a pouch containing water from the first floor.

Swarup said Laloo was provided Z-plus security cover during his visit to Vadodara.

According to the city police chief, soon after Laloo's arrival at the hospital about 150 Congress workers raised slogans in favour of the Railway Minister, which was "disliked by relatives and friends of the injured passengers".

"It's because of this that a mob had rushed towards Laloo," he claimed.
