The injured in the Sabarmati train mishap yesterday (Apr 21, 2005) admitted to SSG Hospital in Vadodara are out of danger today (Apr 22, 2005), doctors at the Hospital said.
Of the total, 24 passengers, whose condition was critical yesterday, are now out of danger and are recuperating, the doctors told sources from Vadodara said in Ahmedabad today.
Over 100 passengers had received injuries of various kinds including fractures, mild haemorrhages, abrasions and bruises, they said adding, "Only 60 passengers are still being treated in the hospital and all of them are stable."
After the Sabarmati Express collided with a stationary goods train at Samalaya, near Vadodara, in the wee hours yesterday, most of the gravely injured patients were rushed to the SSG Hospital while some others were referred to other hospitals in Vadodara.
Railway official said those with lesser injuries had returned to Ahmedabad availing special arrangements made by the Railways after getting first aid from the spot.
Government medical teams from Vadodara, Ahmedabad and nearby towns had rushed to Samalaya junction following the mishap apart from emergency aid services provided by the Western Railways and the several voluntary organisations, which had also sent their medical teams.
