CPM, Cong conspiring to weaken Trinamool: Mamata Saturday, April 23 2005 10:52 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kolkata:
Confirming that Trinamool Congress (TC) would remain in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), party chief Mamata Banerjee last night (Apr 22, 2005).
She alleged that the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) and the Congress were conspiring to weaken the TC with an eye on the Assembly polls in the State next year.
Terming the Congress as the "main team " of CPM, Mamata said that the proposed move by some TC leaders and Congress to form a 'grand alliance' for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) polls was nothing but "a conspiracy to weaken Trinamool".
" CPM knows that we are the real opposition in the State so they are trying to weaken our party with an eye on the next Assembly polls," she said at a party workers rally in Kolkata.
Alleging that Congress had "Back stabbed" the TC in the 2001 Assembly polls, Mamata said, "We are not going to commit the mistake of joining their hands again."
