BJP's defence is for fear of article 356: Laloo
Sunday, April 24 2005 20:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Ranchi: As the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) accused Railway Minister Laloo Prasad of misleading the nation on attack on him, the RJD supremo today (Apr 24, 2005) said it was the fear of article 356 that had forced the saffron party to take cover of the CD footage.

''It is not an allegation. It is for fear of attracting 356 that they have resorted to such action on the advice of Arun Jaitley,'' Laloo said commenting on the CD.

Except a private news channel, the rest of the media, including Doordarshan had been present during the incident, Laloo claimed and stated they had all seen how some people carrying petrol were standing on a roof.

"First they lobbed an ice slab. They smashed the windowpane of the car. Now they are trying to defend it," he added.

When his attention was drawn to BJP leader Sushil Modi's claim that there was no attack on him at Vadodara, Laloo said, "there is none like Sushil Modi who is duniyaka sabse bada jutha ka avtar (the biggest incarnation of falsehood) on the earth."

BJP spokesman Arun Jaitley today said the footage of the video clippings of Laloo showed, while the latter was leaving Vadodara hospital after visiting patients suffering injuries in last Thursday's train mishap, showed the rear windscreen of the Minister's car was in tact, contrary to Laloo's claim.

He said the footage was collected from five different cameras of the electronic media stationed at the Vadodara hospital.
