LJP to discuss Mulayam's Third Front issue: Paswan Sunday, April 24 2005 16:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan today (Apr 24, 2005) said let the proposal of firming up a Third Front (a powerful alternative front) mooted by Samajwadi Party (SP) president become "wide-open" and only then the LJP would discuss the issue.
"We are not aware of the exercise of floating a Third Front or what exactly Mulayam Singh has in his mind," Paswan told PTI when his attention was drawn to the SP leader's proposal for launching a powerful political alternative comprising of progressive parties.
"Let the Third Front proposal become wide-open. Only then will the LJP discuss the matter," he said.
Paswan also refused to get drawn into the controversy generated by RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) president and Railway Minister Laloo Prasad on the issue.
Laloo had accused Mulayam Singh Yadav of trying to "destabilise the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) and weaken the secular forces by mooting a Third Front with tacit understanding with the BJP, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad."
