1st woman court martial proceedings resumes today

Bangalore: The court martial proceedings by the Indian Air Force (IAF) against an IAF woman officer, who has been charged with indiscipline and insubordination, resumed in Bangalore today (Apr 25, 2005) after a three-day recess.

Anjali Gupta, working in the administrative wing of the Aircraft Systems and Training Establishment (ASTE) in Bangalore, is facing the court martial, the first against a woman officer, since April 12.

Anjali Gupta is also facing the charges of delinquency and fraud but she has also filed a complaint against two senior men officers on charge of harassment, approached the Karnataka State Commission for Women and also the State High Court.

The Karnataka High Court has already issued notices to the CBI and the Bangalore police on a petition by Anjali Gupta seeking an enquiry into her charges of sexual harassment by her superiors.
