Laloo pledges to do wonders for Indian Railways Monday, April 25 2005 08:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ranchi:
Pledging that he would do wonders for Indian Railways through construction of bridges and increasing rail-line network, Railway Minister Laloo Prasad said that his first priority was to fit anti-collision device in trains.
''I asked the general manager to survey across the country within fifteen days so that the work is completed soon...We will ensure that there is no repeat of mistakes,'' he said and added accidents could be averted if officials and employees in the railways remained vigilant and alert.
Asserting that there would be no compromise on security and safety fronts, he said no mode of journey, however, was foolproof.
''With regard to accidents, there is no safety when one walks down or flies or sleeps in the room with windows open or travel in trains. Who can guarantee that he will not let you die,'' Laloo said.
