Monday, April 25 2005 08:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh returned home late last night (Apr 24, 2005) after a three-day visit to Jakarta during which he attended the historic Asia-Africa Summit, which adopted a strategic partnership agreement.

The visit was marked by a special honour accorded to India as it was asked to represent Asia at the final signing ceremony of the New Asia Africa Strategic Partnership (NAASP) agreement at the close of the conference of 106 nations of Asia and Africa commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Bandung Asia Africa conference.

Singh addressed the Golden Jubilee of the Asia-Africa Conference after taking a symbolic walk along with other world leaders to commemorate the historic event in Bandung yesterday, during which he called for democratisation of international institutions including the UN and financial bodies, and asserted the importance of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
