3 TSR jawans killed, 4 injured by NLFT in Tripura Monday, April 25 2005 11:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Agartala:
Three jawans of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) were killed and four others injured in an ambush by the suspected insurgents of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT-Biswamohan group) at Naraynabari in Baramura hill range, about 35 km from Agartala today (Apr 25, 2005), police said.
Police said jawans were going to Teliamura town in West Tripura district in three jeeps from their camp at Lungfung and came under heavy attack at Narayanbari.
The ultras opened volley of fire on the first vehicle killing one Md Chan Ahmed and injuring six others, police said adding TSR also retaliated and following 15-minute long encounter the ultras decamped with one Self Loading Rifle (SLR).
Police said another injured jawan, Pradip Debnath died on way to G B Pant hospital in Agartala while out of five jawans admitted, one succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the incident occurred at about 06:30 hrs (IST) when they were on patrolling duty.
Top police officials have rushed to the spot with reinforcement and launched combing operations.
