Indigenous multi-target missile Trishul test-fired

Balasore (Orissa): Trishul, the indigenously developed multi-target surface-to-air missile, was today (Apr 26, 2005) test-fired from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur-on-sea, about 15 km from Balasore, Defence sources said.

The missile was launched from a mobile launcher between 13:05 hours (IST) and 13:10 hours.

However, it was not immediately known whether the experiment was a success. Trishul has a striking range of 12 km and can carry 15 kg warhead.

Powered by solid propellant, the missile has supersonic speed, the sources said.
