No possibility of Third Front in present situation Wednesday, April 27 2005 09:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Hyderabad:
Andhra Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday (Apr 26, 2005) said that there was no possibility of formation of a Third Front in the present political situation in the country.
Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, State party's vice president Prof Seshagiri Rao said Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM), which was extending support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government, had been harping on Third Front, which was "meaningless".
Taking a dig at CPM, he asked, "How could the Third Front be formed without Left parties withdrawing support to the UPA Government?"
The UPA Government would collapse in the event of emergence of the Third Front, he said.
"The talk of the Third Front in the present political situation in the country is nothing but absurd," the BJP leader said.
Rao was in Hyderabad for the State office-bearers' meeting, attended by district presidents and senior leaders, where various issues, including the political situation in the State, were discussed and a number of programmes were chalked out for the silver jubilee celebration of the party.
National BJP vice-president and State affairs in charge Bal Apte also attended the meeting.
