Wednesday, April 27 2005 08:32 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Governments of India and Nepal have initiated consultations on a pilot project for introduction of identification documents for crossing the border by their respective nationals.

This was conveyed to the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for Home S Regupathy in a written reply yesterday (Apr 26, 2005).

Unconfirmed reports indicate that some Madrassas located in areas on the Indian side of the border with Nepal have been receiving funds from organisations in foreign countries, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said in reply to another question.

The work on fencing on Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat is to be completed this year while that on Indo-Bangladesh border is scheduled for next March, except in Mizoram Sector, Regupathy said.
