NDA boycotts House: Smooth running of proceedings Wednesday, April 27 2005 13:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
After witnessing ruckus in the past few days, both Houses of Parliament today (Apr 27, 2005) saw smooth business as Opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members boycotted proceedings to highlight their demand for Railway Minister Laloo Prasad's ouster following framing of charges against him in a fodder scam case.
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha saw normal functioning of the Question Hour, the main casualty of the Opposition attack against Laloo. A large number of starred questions were taken up in both Houses in an orderly manner.
Even the demand for dismissal of Narendra Modi Government by two United Progressive Alliance (UPA) members in Rajya Sabha, which would otherwise have been received with protests from NDA, did not evoke any reaction.
The NDA had yesterday (Apr 26, 2005) decided to boycott Parliamentary Proceedings for three days, beginning today, demanding Laloo's removal from the Union Cabinet.
It also termed as "false" Laloo's statement that he was attacked by Sangh Parivar activists during his visit to the Sabarmati Express accident site and the hospital in Vadodara where he had gone to see the injured.
