New Delhi:
As the Opposition continued its boycott of Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Apr 28, 2005) met President A P J Abdul Kalam during which the current political impasse over Railway Minister Laloo Prasad issue is understood to have figured.
The meeting came close on the heels of an NDA (National Democratic Alliance) delegation calling on the President and pressing him to advise the Prime Minister to drop Laloo from his Cabinet in the wake of charges against him in the Rs 37 crore fodder scam.
Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman S M Khan said the meeting between the President and the Prime Minister which lasted 45 minutes was part of regular interaction between the two leaders.
Singh briefed the President about his recent visit to Indonesia to attend the Bandung Afro-Asian summit and meetings with world leaders there.
"The current Parliament session and other matters of national importance also figured during the discussions," Khan said.
