Firm in his plan to float a new outfit on May 1, senior Congress leader K Karunakaran today (Apr 29, 2005) said he has decided to resign his seat in the Rajya Sabha.
"I have taken the decision. Now only the procedures have to be followed," he told Asianet channel.
"I think it is proper to resign the seat when it becomes difficult to continue in the post won as the party candidate," Karunakaran said.
To a question, whether he would put in his papers before the faction's convention at Thrissur on May 1, Karunakaran said that would depend on the circumstances.
He said he had made up his mind to resign and questions like before or after the convention were just a matter of procedure.
Karunakaran was elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2004.
