28 Afghans dead, 13 injured in arms dump blast

Kabul: A massive explosion at a secret ammunition dump in northern Afghanistan today (May 2, 2005) killed at least 28 people and injured 13 others, police said.

The explosion happened in the Khinjan district of Baghalan province, some 180 kilometres north of the capital Kabul, provincial police chief Fazeludin Ayar told sources.

"There was a huge explosion at 6:00 AM (07:00 IST) which killed at least 28 people and injured 13," he said.
