Senior leader Karunakaran resigns Rajya Sabha seat

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior leader K Karunakaran, who floated a new party yesterday (May 1, 2005), after breaking away from the Congress, has resigned his Rajya Sabha membership.

Karunakaran's resignation letter carrying the date of April 30 had been sent to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, sources close to Karunakaran said In Thiruvanathapuram today(May 2, 2005).

He had last week made it clear that he would give up the Rajya Sabha membership, which he won a year back as a Congress nominee.
