Government has prepared a draft legislation for vetting by the stakeholders to regulate admission, fee structure and management quota among other things in central deemed universities, medical colleges, aided non-aided, minority, non-minority private professional institutions, the Lok Sabha was informed today (May 3, 2005).
The All India Medical Engineering Association has submitted a memorandum to the Government highlighting the problems being faced by such educational institutions and as far as possible, the difficulties pointed out by them will be kept in view while finalising the legislation, Minister of State for Human Resources Development M A A Fatmi said in a written reply.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan: The estimated out-of-school children at the start of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) programme were 2.30 crores, he said, adding by September 2004, the number of out of school children reduced to 0.81 crore.
Tsunami: A two-year M Tech course in Computational Seismology will start at IIT Kharagpur from the Academic Session commencing in July 2005, Fatmi said.
On completion of the course, the students will be able to generate seismic hazard map, which may be used for mitigating earthquake-induced disasters, he said.
Librarians: A Career Advancement Scheme for the cadre of librarians for the Universities is under examination of the Government, the Minister said.
