Government today (May 4, 2005) said that several measures have been taken to protect passengers travelling by the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service.
The measures include necessary safeguards to keep particulars of passengers confidential, further activating of intelligence network to foil evil designs of terrorists and
continued vigil, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said in a written reply.
Patil said in a threat faxed on March 30 to a local news agency in Srinagar, four terrorists outfits "Save Kashmir Movement, Al Aafreen, Al Nasreen and Farzandan-e-Millat" -- have warned people not to board the bus.
They also enclosed the list of 40 prospective passengers from the Indian side in the fax, he said.
Patil said that terrorists had threatened to kill the passengers who booked for the inaugural bus service from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad on April 7 this year.
