Indo-Pak on a path to understand each other: Aziz Wednesday, May 4 2005 08:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Islamabad:
Asserting that the relations among the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries were getting better, Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz yesterday (May 3, 2005) said India and Pakistan are "adding more" to understanding each other's positions on "all issues".
"I think we are on a path where we are adding more to understanding each other's positions on all issues. We are also very encouraged that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is now being discussed between the two countries," Aziz said while addressing a regional conference on Women's Development organised by the UN in Islamabad.
"We need to find a solution so that we can have sustainable peace in South Asia. I am very encouraged the dialogue we have started will lead to an equitable solution, which will accept the rights and aspirations of Kashmiri people," he said.
"The relationship between SAARC countries is getting better. The atmospherics are getting better. The intention to understand each other's positions is getting better," he said.
A number of women activists from the region including senior Congress leader and Chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW) Girija Vyas attended the conference.
