Karaavan-e-aman rolls from Srinagar amidst security Thursday, May 5 2005 11:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Srinagar:
The third Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus left Srinagar this morning (May 5, 2005) carrying 37 passengers, including 13 from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), amidst tight security.
The 'Karaavan-e-aman' (Caravan of peace) bus rolled off from the police headquarters at Batamaloo with 24 passengers from this side and 13 from PoK, official sources said.
The passengers had been put up last night (May 4, 2005) at an undisclosed place due to security reasons, they said, adding police and paramilitary personnel were guarding the 120-km road to Kaman post, the last point on this side of the Line of Control (LoC).
Militant outfits al-Arifeen, al-Nasireen, Save Kashmir Movement and Farzandan-e-Millat have threatened to target the bus and its passengers. The militant groups had identified persons undertaking travel in the first two buses while announcing the lists, but failed to do so in case of the third bus.
