PM, Vajpayee meet amid 'stand-off' in Parliament
Saturday, May 7 2005 12:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: In the midst of a stand-off in Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his predecessor Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (May 7, 2005) met at a public function and interacted briefly.

It was not immediately known what they discussed and whether the ongoing impasse in the Parliament between the Government and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) figured.

The two sides in the last few days have engaged in a war of words blaming each other for the boycott by the Opposition.

Vajpayee who came earlier for the function first shook hands with the Prime Minister on his arrival to inaugurate the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial.

At the end of the function, they again shook hands and exchanged a few words after which Vajpayee left the venue and the Prime Minister went into the memorial.
