BJP delegation to attend SAFMA meet in Pakistan Sunday, May 8 2005 13:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Aiming at contributing to the ongoing Indo-Pak peace process, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation led by party vice president Muqtar Abbas Naqvi, will visit Islamabad next week.
The delegation is visiting Islamabad to participate in a weeklong conference of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA), a meet which will provide yet another occasion of contact for political leaders of the two countries.
A host of regional issues covering areas of economy, trade, cooperative security and energy management will be deliberated on at the conference to be attended by five other political leaders from the other South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries.
At least 24 leaders from various Indian political parties are also expected to attend the conference.
The BJP leaders will interact with their Pakistani counterparts and are expected to discuss the ongoing peace process and related issues.
Other members of the BJP delegation are Ravi Shanker Prasad, Satya Narain Jatiya, Kiran Maheshwari, Avinash Khanna and Uday Singh.
"Our delegation will contribute to the peace process and improvement of relations between Pakistan currently underway," Naqvi said.
This is the third SAFMA conference since the peace process started more than a year ago.
