'I want to correct people's impression about Bose' Friday, May 13 2005 10:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Eminent Director Shyam Benegal, whose controversial film "Subhash Bose - the Forgotten Hero", will hit the screen today (May 13, 2005), he said he wanted to "correct the impression of the people" who know very little about the legendary freedom fighter.
"People outside Bengal know very little about what Subhash Chandra Bose did for India. That is why I used the word forgotten in my movie. How can you object to things like the title and the songs in a movie?" he asked when asked about the recent controversy over the title of the movie.
Benegal, who took three years to complete the movie, said the best possible research was done for the movie and people should see the movie on the strength of its quality and not because of any controversy.
He said one of the reasons why nobody attempted a film on Bose was because they were "afraid" to deal with the subject.
Terming the movie as a full of drama and adventure, he said the most difficult part of making a period movie is to recreate the same era.
Benegal was in New Delhi for a special screening of the film along with the movies star cast including Sachin Khedekar, who plays the lead role.
"It is the most important movie of my career. I am happy with my performance and it would not have been possible without extensive research," said Sachin.
