Meningitis kills one more; 19 new cases reported

New Delhi: Meningococcaemia has claimed one more life in the capital taking the toll in the disease to 22 even as 19 new suspected cases were reported since yesterday (May 13, 2005).

The latest victim of the bacterial outbreak was a 24-year man admitted in Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, MCD's Director of Hospital Administration Dr J N Banavaliker told reporters in New Delhi today.

With the 19 new cases reported in the city, the total number of suspected cases of the disease reported so far has touched 297.

Banavaliker said adequate number of vaccines and drugs had been made available in various Government hospitals to control the disease.
