Meningitis kills one more; 3 new cases reported

New Delhi: Meningococcaemia claimed one more life in the capital today (May 15, 2005) taking the toll in the disease to 23 even as three new suspected cases were reported since yesterday (May 14, 2005).

The latest victim of the bacterial outbreak was a 50-year woman admitted in GTB Hospital, MCD's Director of Hospital Administration Dr J N Banavaliker said.

The number of suspected cases of the disease reported so far in the city has touched 300.

Banavaliker said adequate number of vaccines and drugs had been made available in various Government hospitals to control the disease.
