'Uma Bharti may be given important responsibility' Sunday, May 15 2005 16:48 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Gwalior (MP):
Stating that Uma Bharti has always been "useful" for the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), its senior leader and former Union Minister Vikram Verma today (May 15, 2005) said it was possible that the firebrand leader would soon be given important responsibility.
"Uma Bharti was useful for the party and would remain so. There are chances that the party leadership would give her important responsibility that would benefit the party. That is why she has been called to Delhi", Verma told reporters in Gwalior.
"But its nature would be decided during her discussions with the leadership", he added.
Welcoming nomination of party general secretary Shivraj Singh Chauhan as Madhya Pradesh party chief, the former Union Minister said it would be unfair to say that the OBC leader was given the post to "sideline" Bharti in the State.
"BJP has leaders from all classes and communities who are given responsibilities on basis of their experience and abilities", he said, adding after Bharti walked out of executive meeting, party has decided not to tolerate indiscipline.
