New Delhi: Outgoing Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) T S Krishna Murthy said yesterday (May 15, 2005) that his successor B B Tandon was a "very good" person and would conduct the elections "well".

"Tandon is a very good person. I am sure that he will conduct the elections well. He deserves to be supported and encouraged," he told reporters on the last day in office.

Tandon, along with another Election Commissioner N Goapalaswami, has been under attack from senior bureaucrat L V Saptharishi and Railway Minister Laloo Prasad on the issue of countermanding of Chapra Lok Sabha polls last year when Laloo had contested from there.
