Eight killed; ten injured in explosion in Hassan

Bangalore: Eight persons including three children were killed and ten others critically injured when crackers stored in a house exploded in Hassan in the early hours of today (May 16, 2005).

According to reports reaching police in Bangalore, the house owner was engaged in illegal manufacture of crackers.

The piles of crackers stocks exploded at about 0300 hrs (IST) and the cause of the mishap was being investigated, police said.

Following the impact of the fire, an LPG cylinder also burst into flames, damaging the house, police said.

The injured have been shifted a hospital.
