Suspected LeT activist arrested from IGI airport

New Delhi: A suspected activist of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) has been arrested from the Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi after he arrived from Singapore, police sources today (May 16, 2005) said.

Mohammad Haroon Rashid alias Farooq was arrested on charges of delivering funds to two LeT militants who were killed in an encounter in a South Delhi area recently, the sources said.

Rashid, formerly an engineer with the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) was arrested on Saturday (May 14, 2005) night after receiving specific intelligence inputs, they said adding, he carried a passport issued from Patna.

Police are interrogating him to ascertain details about the network of the outfit.
