A Delhi court today (May 16, 2005) sentenced five persons to life imprisonment for killing a man during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in New Delhi, following the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Additional Sessions Judge N K Kaushik found the accused guilty under section 302 of IPC (murder) for killing one Balbir Singh by setting him ablaze in Nangloi area of the capital in November 1984.
Those convicted and sentenced are Rajinder, Pyarelal, Dharam Pal, Rajbir and Varumal.
