Bihar Govt serves show-cause notice to Goswami
Tuesday, May 17 2005 16:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: The Bihar Government has issued a show cause notice to former Patna District Magistrate Gautam Goswami, one of the 'accused' in multi-crore flood relief scam, for joining a private company without being relieved from the job, official sources said today (May 17, 2005).

Goswami had been asked to explain 'at the earliest,' how he joined Sahara India without his resignation been accepted by the Government, the sources added.

Goswami, who was awarded by Time magazine last year, sent his resignation letter to the Government in early February and joined Sahara India as its Vice-President without waiting for the Government clearance of his resignation.

In Government records, Goswami is still an IAS officer of Bihar cadre.

Goswami, who was Patna DM when he sent his resignation letter to the Government, is in the eye of storm over scam related to distribution of relief to the flood-hit people of north Bihar last year.
