Girls have outperformed boys in the 10th and 12th class Board examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), results of which were declared today (May 18, 2005).
Of the 87,513 students from 1,187 schools who appeared for the Class 10 (ICSE) examination this year, 94.24 per cent cleared the test.
In the Class 12 (ISC) examination, there was a pass percentage of 93.57. Nearly 40,000 students from 528 schools had taken the test, a CISCE official said.
The results, posted on CISCE's website www.cisce.org at 16:00 hrs (IST), were also available through SMS.
While 95.09 per cent of girls passed the Class 10 examination, it was 93.59 per cent for boys.
In the Class 12 examination, girls had a pass percentage of 95.93 per cent against 91.79 per cent for boys.
The western region had the best pass percentage for Class 10 at 97.61 while for Class 12, the honour went to foreign schools at 98.29 per cent.
Some schools in Dubai, Sharjah and Indonesia conduct examinations under the CISCE.
