Mumbai: The prosecution in the Best bakery case today (May 19, 2005) re-examined prime witness Zaheera Sheikh in the light of fresh evidence put up before a special court in the form of a video film, which captures police rescue operations on Mar 2, 2002 a day after Best bakery was set afire by a violent mob.

The film shows presence of Zaheera's family members at the bakery on the day of the incident, which is in sharp contrast to her statement in the court.

Zaheera had denied the presence of some of her family members at the site on that day.

The special court in Mumbai is conducting a re-trial in the case following a Supreme Court directive to hold it in Maharashtra. Fourteen persons were killed in the attack on the Best bakery at Vadodara on March 1, 2002 during the post-Godhra riots.
