Mumbai: A Paris-bound Air India flight with 428 passengers onboard today (May 20, 2005) made an emergency landing following a technical snag, more than two hours after it took off at 0900 hrs (IST) from the international airport in Mumbai.

Later, the flight with all the 428 passengers on board took off for Paris at 1700 hrs (IST) with a different Boeing 747-400 aircraft, an A-I spokesperson said in Mumbai.

The AI-191 Mumbai-Paris-Newark flight had taken off from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 0900 hrs (IST) but was recalled after a hydraulic leak was detected, he said adding, the aircraft made a safe landing at the airport at 1130 hrs (IST).

The aircraft dumped fuel before the emergency landing as per the laid down procedure, he said.

The Boeing 747-400 aircraft made a safe landing amid full emergency measures at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here last night.

Tyre pieces were found on the runway soon after the Boeing 747 had taken off from Delhi and the Air Control Tower was alerted about the matter.
