Indian, Chinese military to discuss Defence CBMs Friday, May 20 2005 09:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Building on the momentum in Defence ties following Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao's visit to India, military officials of the two countries meet in New Delhi from Monday (May 23, 2005) to chalk out implementation a set of Confidence-Building Measures (CBM) along their border.
Working out of enhanced flag meetings, military-to- military exchanges on the border as well as stepping up exchanges in each other's military training institutes would be in focus in talks between Chinese Chief of General Staff Gen Liang Guanglie and Indian Army chief Gen J J Singh.
During the visit by Wen in April, the two countries had announced a new set of CBM including procedures for dealing with inadvertent border intrusions by forces from either side.
Guanglie, who is also the member of the powerful Chinese Central Military Commission, will hold talks with the three service chiefs Admiral Arun Prakash, Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi besides J J Singh. He may also call on Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Guanglie would the first Chief of the People Liberation Army to visit India in seven years and also meet National Security Advisor (NSA) M K Narayanan, India's interlocutor for border talks with China.
