Patna:
The vigilance inquiry into the multi-crore flood relief scam was in final stages and an First Information Report (FIR) in this connection might be registered in a day or two, Bihar Governor Buta Singh said in Patna today (May 20, 2005).
If required, the former District Magistrate of Patna, Gautam Goswami too would be questioned by the vigilance probe team, the Governor told reporters at his secretariat chamber.
Goswami was the nodal officer supervising flood relief operations in 18 districts of North Bihar, which affected a population of over 2.5 crore last year.
Goswami, a recipient of Time magazine award of 'Young Asian Hero' for his exemplary performance in providing succour to suffering masses during last year's floods, resigned from Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and joined as Vice-President of Sahara group of companies recently.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice-President Sushil Kumar Modi had alleged huge irregularities in purchase and supply blankets to people below poverty line during the winter of 2002-03.
When asked about the transfer of the Siwan and Gopalganj District Magistrates, the Governor said it was a routine matter and hinted at further administrative reshuffle to tone up the administration.
