High tide and strong waves lashed parts of Kerala coast for the second day today (May 21, 2005), triggering panic among the coastal folk.
According to information in Thiruvananthapuram, high tide brought sea waters surging ashore in a few coastal hamlets of Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur.
Though no casualty or large-scale damage to properties were reported, fishermen living in wave-hit areas moved to safer places on their own.
The Government has also alerted official machinery to be ready to help the people on the coast, official sources said.Meanwhile, the sea waters that submerged the coastal hamlets in the Poovar and Karumkulam areas near Thiruvananthapuram yesterday (May 20, 2005) receded, most of those who had moved to safer places were yet to go back to their homes.
