President Kalam leaves on two-week trip to Russia

New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam today (May 22, 2005) left for a 14-day trip to Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine and Iceland.

He was seen off at the airport by Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his cabinet colleagues including Laloo Prasad, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Shivraj Patil, Subodh Kanth Sahay, Meira Kumar and Panabaka Lakshmi among others.

Army Chief J J Singh, Naval Chief Admiral Arun Prakash and Air Chief Marshall S P Tygai and top officials were among others present at the airport.

The President made no departure statement.
