Fake expatriate I-card recovered from slain Indian
Tuesday, May 24 2005 20:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Kuala Lumpur: An expatriate identity card recovered from a slain Indian national in Kuala Lumpur was found to be fake by the Malaysian police, raising the possibility that the victim could have been gangster Balu Dokre, an alleged henchman of Chhota Rajan gang, sources said in Kuala Lumpur today (May 24, 2005).

The expatriate card, which is issued to all foreigners working in Malaysia, stated the name of the victim as Suresh Krishnakant Sharma, the sources said.

The card also indicated the place of work and his designation as marketing manager, the sources said, adding it also mentioned the passport number of the victim.

However, police found that nobody by that name worked in the company mentioned in the card, they said.

Indian High Commission authorities have sent the details to the Passport Office in Mumbai for verification.

The body, with knife slashes and head almost severed off, was found in a field on Sunday (May 22, 2005) near Rawang town. The person had been murdered at least 13 hours earlier.

Police also found that the victim had used a credit card and are now investigating. No one has so far claimed the body, which will be sent for post-mortem.

Robbery has been ruled out as around 1500 ringett (Rs 16,000) in cash were found on the body along with jewellery.

The local media in Kuala Lumpur quoted Indian press reports about the murder of Dokre in Malaysia. A photo of a bearded Dokre and the murder victim was also published side by side.
