Bihar polls: RJD open to broader alliance with LJP Tuesday, May 24 2005 20:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Jaipur:
The RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) today (May 24, 2005) suggested it was open to a broader alliance that has Ramvilas Paswan-led Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) for Bihar Assembly polls but not on his terms.
Senior RJD leader and Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh told reporters in Jaipur today that his party would go for a broader alliance with parties like Congress, Left parties and other UPA (United Progressive Alliance) partners in the next Bihar Assembly polls and it was for Paswan to decide whether to join the alliance or not.
"Now the ball is in the court of Paswan who should not be adamant on his terms of reference as he failed to even make any stake for formation of the Government in Bihar," Singh said.
The RJD would take corrective measures and make a strong alliance this time to form the Government on its own, he said and pointed out that there had been a loose alliance and even "friendly contests" among UPA partners in the previous polls in Bihar. "But this time, the arrangement will be improved drastically," he said.
