Rebel LJP leaders rejects Paswan's leadership Wednesday, May 25 2005 16:52 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
The rebel LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) leaders claiming support of 21 MLAs in the dissolved House today (May 25, 2005) categorically rejected the leadership of party president Ram Vilas Paswan and said they would move the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the Assembly.
The rebels, who held a meeting at the residence of their colleague Munna Shukla in Patna and which was attended by expelled State unit chief Narendra Singh and national secretary-general of the party Nagmani, who had earlier quit the party, delayed the split of the party by one week.
''We have called a meeting of party workers and leaders in the capital in the first week of June to decide whether to float a new party or merge with the NDA (National Democratic Alliance),'' Narendra Singh told reporters.
Singh, flanked by Nagmani and a dozen of other MLAs, categorically stated that they are supporting the NDA and have now nothing to do with Paswan.
Singh said they would also try to meet President A P J Abdul Kalam to apprise him of their points of view.
Today's meeting was attended by 14 MLAs of the dissolved House including its legislature party leader Ramashray Prasad Singh and his deputy Awdesh Kushwaha.
Singh showed letters of support by the four-jailed party MLAs - Rama Singh, Manoranjan Singh alias Dhumal Singh, Sheel Kumar Rai and Shankar Singh.
