NRIs shocked at death of veteran actor Sunil Dutt Wednesday, May 25 2005 16:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
London:
Non-Resident Indians, who constitute a substantial audience for Hindi movies, today (May 25, 2005) expressed shock over the death of veteran actor and Union Minister Sunil Dutt.
Besides one of the all-time Bollywood hits 'Mother India', his movies such as 'Gumraah', 'Waqt', 'Padosan, 'Khandaan' and 'Milan' have been popular with the older generation of NRIs and even the younger generation enjoyed his last movie 'Munnabhai MBBS' released last year.
Reflecting the shock of the NRI community, Lord Swraj Paul said in London that besides being a great human being, Dutt had given so much pleasure as an actor to Asians everywhere in the world.
"He was a wonderful husband to a great wife, a wonderful father and as a politician he did so much for the poor," he said.
Describing him as one of the most humble and clean political figures, Paul said that Dutt had enthusiastically spoken to him at a meeting in February about his vision for India's youth and sportsmen. "We've lost a great Indian," he said.
