NDA eager to have early elections in Bihar: Advani Friday, May 27 2005 09:09 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ahmedabad:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L K Advani yesterday (May 26, 2005) criticised Bihar Governor Buta Singh for dissolving the State Assembly and said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was eager to have early elections.
"Just when NDA was gaining majority to form Government the house was dissolved," Advani told media persons on the sidelines of a function in Ahmedabad yesterday.
"Talak hota hai to pehle shaadi to hone chahiye" (one has to get married first before giving divorce), Advani said sarcastically while describing how the Bihar Assembly was dissolved by the Governor.
"We are keen on having elections at the earliest in Bihar and that too before the rains as it would be very difficult if there are floods there. All arrangements (from NDA side) are in place and with the assistance of paramilitary forces it (polls) can be held with no hesitation," Advani said.
Terming the situation in Bihar as a "tamasha" (joke), the BJP president said, "Ideally in such a situation (when Assembly is hung) the Governor should invite all the parties and give them a chance to prove majority. But here no such thing happened."
Advani said that while some 'disgruntled' MLA's were going to the court for "justice", the NDA would approach the people of Bihar and urge them to vote for them (NDA) as they had already rejected the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the recent polls.
