Vadodara: Special court Judge from Mumbai Abhay Thipsay hearing the Best Bakery case arrived at the bakery site along with his team to understand how the crime had taken place on the night of March 1, 2002 in which 14 persons were burnt alive.

The Judge was accompanied by public prosecutor of the special court, which is conducting the retrial in the Best Bakery case after it was shifted to Mumbai from Gujarat following a direction from the Supreme Court.

In view of the sensitivity of the case, police has maintained a tight security and people including the media were prevented from venturing near the Bakery premises.

Spotlight: Godhra-Chilling stories of the victims

The case is one of the important post Godhra riot cases, which are being tried in the court where the key witness is the controversial Zaheera Sheikh who has made a series of flip flops during her depositions in the court attracting strictures from the court.

The team also measured the distance between some of the witnesses and the best bakery.

They also got information from fire brigade regarding the incident.

The team however did not meet Heena, sister-in-law of Zaheera Sheikh, who is staying the Bakery premises.

The team is likely to visit the premises again today (May 27, 2005).
