Patna:
Bihar Governor Buta Singh today (May 27, 2005) asserted that here was 'sufficient' evidence of horse-trading of MLAs in the State and he had acted in accordance with the Constitution while recommending dissolution of the Assembly.
''There is sufficient evidence in connection with the horse-trading of MLAs,'' he told reporters refuting charges by some that he had talked about the matter without any evidence.
''My statements have been presented in a different light. I want to make it clear that there is sufficient evidence in connection with horse-trading of MLAs. I acted in accordance with the Constitution in recommending dissolution of the Assembly,'' he said in reply to reporters' queries.
He lamented that some 'vested interests' were trying to 'spread wrong information' about the event.
In reply to a question that there was report that development works were being okayed under President's Rule without following administrative rules, the Governor refuted the charge and sought information if there was any and assured action.
''Development works are being given priority, but violation of rules cannot be allowed,'' he said.
On delay in lodging FIR in the multi-crore flood relief scam, the director-general of police, Ashis Ranjan Sinha, who was present with the Governor, said, ''The format for lodging of the FIR is ready and it has been sent for legal advice. Immediately after receiving the advice, FIR will be lodged in the case.''
