Six persons, including five suspected Indian terrorists, were killed by Bangladeshi security forces yesterday (May 27,2005) in a shoot out in the country's northeast region, a media report said.
The elite crime fighters Rapid Action Battalion and Bangladesh Rifles border guards, following a tip off, carried out combing operation in several areas of northeastern districts, including Maulavibazar early yesterday, Channel Eye Television said.
The suspected terrorists opened fire when the security personnel reached remote Puranbari village triggering a gunfight, which left five suspected Indian terrorists and one of their Bangladeshi accomplice dead, the reports said.
The channel said security personnel seized grenades, guns, ammunition, mobile telephones and satellite phone from them, besides arresting nine others including Bangladeshis.
The security personnel suspect that they were members of an international terrorist organisation and at least six of them were Indian nationals, the report said.
